Box Score 2 Bourbonnais, Ill. - Trinity Christian College baseball (5-15, 1-6 CCAC) dropped both games of their doubleheader on Friday against Olivet Nazarene (12-14, 5-2 CCAC). In game one, Trinity lost 17-1 in seven innings. In the nine inning contest in game two, the Trolls were eight-run ruled. They fell 9-1 in seven innings.
Game 1 - Olivet Nazarene 17, Trinity Christian College 1
The Trolls got a first inning home run from senior Nick Andersen and they took a 1-0 lead. It's was the fifth home run of the season for Andersen.
After scoring a run on a groundout in the first inning, the Tigers onslaught began in the second frame. A six-run inning made it 7-1. Olivet also had a nine run fourth inning which included two Trinity errors. The Trolls committed four errors for the game.
Sophomore Jacob Hutcherson had a great performance out of the Trinity bullpen. He didn't allow a run in two innings of work. Olivet outhit the Trolls 16-3.
Game 2 - Olivet Nazarene 9, Trinity Christian College 1
Trinity was the home team for the second game due to changes in the schedule. The game was scheduled for nine innings but finished after seven innings when the eight-run rule went into effect. The Trolls trailed just 5-0 after six innings, but it was a four-run seventh inning to put Trinity away.
The Trolls scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI single from Andersen.
NOTES & NUMBERS:
- Between the two games, Andersen went 2-2 with two RBIs.
- Junior Hunter Slaats started on the mound in game two and allowed only two earned runs in five innings of work.
UP NEXT: Saturday's single game against Olivet Nazarene has been postponed due to field conditions. It will be made up at a later date. The Trolls will prepare for a Monday afternoon single game with Lincoln College. A time is TBD.
