Box Score 2 Palos Heights, Ill. - Trinity Christian College baseball (10-16, 6-7 CCAC ) has battled with more than just CCAC opponents this year. The rain (Undefeated) has been a problem in itself. The Trolls found some, somewhat, dry weather and took down Lincoln College (1-20, 1-11 CCAC) in both games of their doubleheader on Thursday.
Trinity has now won five of their last six games and is averaging nearly 11 runs per game during this stretch.
In a quick 90-minute affair during game one, senior Nick Andersen got the party started with a solo home run in the second inning. It was his sixth of the season. Andersen also had a hit in game two and is now riding a five-game hitting streak. He's slugging a whopping .787 for the season.
Sophomore Miles Williams had his fingerprints all over the win. His two out RBI single in the second inning extended the lead to 2-0. In the sixth inning, he drove in two more runs on an RBI single and Trinity held a 5-1 lead.
Sophomore Jacob Hutcherson was impressive on the bump. He went 5 1/3 innings and allowed only one run for the victory. Junior Josh Bakke went 1.2 innings out of the bullpen without allowing a run.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Trinity scored 18 runs but they all came in three innings. After a wild pitch scored a run in the first inning, the Trolls scored seven runs in the fifth inning and 10 more runs in the ninth inning.
Both teams committed four errors as Lincoln crawled out of an 8-1 deficit to lead, 9-8 in the bottom of the eighth. In the Trolls home-half of the eighth inning, sophomore Alexander Avila kicked off the scoring with his first home run of the season. He came up later in the inning and drove in two more runs on a double.
Despite a three-run top of the ninth, Trinity completed the sweep with an 18-12 win.
