PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Trinity women's hoops opened the new season on Friday night, falling at home to Dordt (Iowa) 83-41 inside DeVos Gymnasium.
Sedona Anderson led the way for the Trolls (0-1), scoring a game-high 11 points in her Trinity debut. Lorena Arnett scored nine points off the bench, going 3-for-5 from three-point range, and Hannah Schuringa pulled down eight rebounds on the night.
The Trolls hung tough in the first half with the Defenders (2-0), holding the visitors to a 1-for-18 performance from three-point range before the break. Although Trinity stayed close in the second quarter, Dordt would lead throughout the rest of the game. Kyla Smith's jumper and a free throw from Schuringa at the 2:07 mark made it a one-point game, 19-18, but the Defenders closed the half on a 7-0 run to lead 26-18 at the break before taking over in the second half to secure the win.
Trinity will look to bounce back on Saturday afternoon, when they face Northwestern (Iowa) at DeVos, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
