SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Freshman guard Danny Staskunas led Trinity with 25 points on Wednesday night, but the Trolls were unable to overcome their slow start in an 82-68 road loss at Indiana South Bend.
Team Leaders
• Staskunas became the first player to reach the 20-point mark this season for the Trolls (2-5, 0-3 CCAC), finishing with 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting. The freshman went 7-for-12 from three-point range.
• Jadon Williams collected 11 points, with three rebounds and two steals.
• Joe Doyle came off the bench to record eight points and seven rebounds.
How it Happened
• The Titans (7-3, 3-0 CCAC) jumped out to a 20-5 lead in the opening minutes, as Trinity struggled with five turnovers during the run.
• Trinity would outscore South Bend 24-22 throughout the rest of the first half, going into the break trailing the home team 42-29. Staskunas led the Trolls with 11 first-half points.
• A couple of threes from Staskunas with a bucket from Doyle would cut the deficit to single digits at the start of the second half. Another three from Staskunas at the 13:36 mark brought the Trolls to within six, 56-50.
• After Johnny Dieck's basket with 12:52 to play, the Trolls went cold, going the next six minutes without a field goal as the Titans went on a 12-0 run to pull away.
