Box Score 2 OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – Nick Andersen went 4-for-8, and Anthony Cappelletti hit his first home run of the early season, but Trinity would come up short in a doubleheader on Wednesday, falling on the road to Oakland City (Ind.) 8-1 in game one, and 8-7 in extra innings during game two.
The Trolls (1-5) collected eight base hits in the opener, but a 1-for-10 performance with runners in scoring position kept Trinity off the scoreboard outside of the 3rd inning. After the Mighty Oaks (8-0) posted four runs in the 2nd, Tommy Schaaf's leadoff double in the 3rd set the table for an RBI single from Andersen.
In the second game of the day, the Trolls rallied late to erase a 6-1 deficit, beginning with a three-run top of the 6th. Oliver Carmody's leadoff single and an Oakland City error led to Michael Moralez's two-out RBI double, followed by two runs scoring on Hunter Slaats's single through the left side of the infield.
Trailing 6-4 in the 7th, the Trolls tied the game with back-to-back singles from Brian Huttner and Schaaf. A wild pitch would bring in a run before Andersen's RBI double tied the game.
In extra innings Trinity would take a 7-6 lead after Slaat's RBI double and a squeeze bunt from Angel Toscana. Oakland City would earn the walk-off win in the bottom of the 8th however, with a two-run home run to end the game.
The Trolls will look to bounce back next week, when they make their home debut on Thursday, February 23 against Grace (Ind.).
