Box Score 2 WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Oliver Carmody went a combined 4-for-8 in Saturday's doubleheader, but the Trolls closed the four-game series with Grace (Ind.) with a pair of losses, falling to the Lancers 6-3 in game one, and 11-5 in game two.
In the first game of the day, Jordan Veldman drove in a pair of runs, leading a 6th inning rally that saw the Trolls (2-8) post three runs. After a pair of singles to lead off the top of the inning, Veldman's triple to right scored Michael Moralez and Anthony Cappelletti. Hunter Slaats' added a run with a sacrifice fly, closing the Lancers' lead to 5-3. Grace (8-3) added another run in the bottom of the 6th and worked a 1-2-3 7th to earn the win.
Carmody went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored in game two, leading an offense that matched Grace with ten base hits. The Trolls went 2-for-13 in scoring position however, finishing with five runs in the nightcap. Trinity posted three runs in the 3rd, led by an RBI single from Veldman, and a run-scoring double from Tommy Schaaf, while Brock Bolser hit his first home run of the season in the top of the 4th.
The Trolls will look to bounce back next week as they prepare for their home opener on Wednesday, March 1, as they open a four-game series with Grace Christian (Mich.). First pitch from Schaaf Athletic Complex is set for 11:00 a.m.
