Box Score ELGIN, Ill. – Matt Ostrowski and Logan Stutz would combine for a four-hitter, while the offense swatted 13 runs on 16 hits as Trinity opened the three-game set against Judson with a 13-0 victory in seven innings.
Nick Andersen and Michael Moralez each hit home runs in the win, as the Trolls' 3- and 4-hitters went a combined 7-for-8 on the day. Moralez finished 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, three RBI and three runs scored in addition to the long ball, while Andersen was 3-for-4 with his team-leading fifth home run of the season.
Ostrowski scattered three hits over two innings of work, while Stutz picked up the win, throwing five innings of relief and striking out four with just one base hit allowed.
The Trolls (9-14, 3-2 CCAC) came out hot, scoring four runs on three hits in the top of the 1st. Anthony Cappelletti drew a bases-loaded walk for the first run of the day, followed by a two-RBI single from Hunter Slaats.
Moralez added to the lead with a two-run shot in the top of the 2nd, giving the Trolls a 6-0 lead. After Andersen's RBI single in the top of the 3rd, Moralez struck again, with a run-scoring double for a 9-0 advantage.
Anderson's solo shot in the 5th put the Trolls within range of winning on run rule, with three more runs coming home in the top of the 7th, highlighted by a two-run single from Preston Moore.
With the win the Trolls have claimed victory in four of their last five, and will look to close out the series with the Eagles (6-12, 3-2 CCAC) on Friday afternoon, with a doubleheader from Schaaf Athletic Complex. First pitch on March 24 is set for 1:00 p.m.
