Box Score 2 PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Pitching eight scoreless innings of relief, Logan Strutz was lights-out on Saturday afternoon, but a tough day at the plate resulted in a pair of losses for Trinity Baseball, falling to Indiana South Bend 8-0 in game one, and 5-0 in a 12-inning marathon game two.
After three shutout innings from Matt Ostrowski in game two, Strutz came on in relief in the top of the 4th to keep the Titans (13-19, 9-6 CCAC) off the scoreboard for nearly nine full innings, collecting ten strikeouts along the way.
The visitors finally broke through in the top of the 12th, scoring five runs on four hits and an error to take the lead.
In the first game of the day, the Trolls (17-16, 11-4 CCAC) fell behind early, as IU South Bend took advantage of three Trinity errors to post four runs in the top of the 1st. Michael Moralez's infield single in the bottom of the 4th would be the only base hit for the Trolls in the opening game as Trinity was held off the scoreboard throughout the day.
The Trolls will look to bounce back on Tuesday afternoon, when they welcome St. Ambrose to Schaaf Athletic Complex for a mid-week doubleheader. First pitch with the Bees is set for 1:00 p.m.
