PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Trinity's return home after nearly a month away was a high-powered one for the men's soccer program, as the Trolls poured in a season-high four goals in a 4-0 victory over Indiana Northwest, at Schaaf Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
Out-shooting their opponents 26-2 on the day, the Trolls (3-3-2, 1-1 CCAC) kept the pressure up until Drew Sotok finally broke through with a goal in the 44th minute.
After the halftime break, the Trolls extended their lead, beginning with Martin Markovic's goal in the 59th minute. The RedHawks (2-4-1, 0-2 CCAC) had a chance to get on the board in the 71st minute, with a penalty chance, but Trinity goalkeeper Giorgos Christodoulou made the save to keep the clean sheet intact.
Three minutes later the Trolls would strike again, after a red card was issued to the RedHawks goalkeeper, Ivan Perez scored on a free kick just outside the box for his team-leading fourth goal of the year. In the 90th minute, Daniel Garcia finished out the match with the fourth goal of the day, snapping a four-match winless streak and putting the Trolls back in the early-season CCAC race.
The Trolls will look to make it two in a row when they visit Calumet on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff from East Chicago H.S. is set for 2:30 p.m. on September 23.
