Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Greene's 33 not enough for Trolls at Governors State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. – Garrett Greene posted the first 30-point performance of the season for Trinity men's basketball, but a late rally in the second half came up just short on Saturday afternoon, as the Trolls fell on the road to Governors State, 87-80.

Team Leaders

• Greene posted 33 points on 13-of-25 shooting, as well as a team-high eight rebounds.

Danny Staskunas collected 15 points and four assists, going 3-for-9 from three-point range.

Brady Loerop tallied 10 points with five boards and three assists.

How it Happened

• Trinity started cold out of the gate, as the team missed its first five field goals and committed four turnovers as the Jaguars jumped out to a 15-0 lead. Another 10-0 run for the home team would result in a 29-6 score midway through the first half.

• The Trolls recover to make it a 14-point Jaguar lead at the break, fueled by 13 first-half points from Greene.

• A 15-4 run to open the second half would get the Trolls back in the game, with a three-point play from Greene getting Trinity to within two, 53-51 with 14:57 to play.

• Greene's three-pointer at the 11:55 mark would tie the game at 61-61, and two minutes later his pair of free throws would give the Trolls their first lead of the game, 63-62 with 10:11 remaining.

• The offense would slow again down the stretch, as Trinity recorded one field goal over a seven-minute stretch, allowing the Jaguars to go back up 77-68 with 4:28 left to play.
