Saints pull away from Trolls in fourth quarter

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Trinity would hold their opponents to the second-lowest point total of the season on Wednesday night, but the Trolls would struggle on the other end, falling at home to St. Francis 57-43 inside DeVos Gymnasium.

Team Leaders

Kirsten Kamholz matched her career high, leading the Trolls with 12 points in 18 minutes of action off the bench.

Hannah Schuringa finished with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

Desire Berrien and Sedona Anderson each pulled down a team-high six rebounds on the night.

How it Happened

• A three-pointer in the opening minutes from Brittony Davis gave the Trolls an early 5-3 lead, but the Saints would respond with nine unanswered points, building a 19-9 lead for the visitors by the end of the first quarter.

• The Trolls battled back, opening the second quarter on an 8-0 run, highlighted by Berrien's three-pointer at the 7:19 mark. St. Francis would go back up by eight, before a pair of buckets from Schuringa closed out the first half to cut the Saints' lead to 25-21 at the break.

• Kamholz would tie the game twice in the third quarter, hitting a three with 4:40 left in the period to even the score at 29-29. After a bucket at the other end of the court, Schuringa found Kamholz for another score on the Trolls' next possession to make it a 31-31 game. St. Francis would go on another 9-0 run however, and after Amena Alexander's layup at the buzzer the Saints would lead 40-33 at the end of three quarters.

• Schuringa's three-pointer with 8:28 to play to make it 44-36 would be as close as the Trolls would get in the fourth quarter, as St. Francis out-scored Trinity 17-10 over the final ten minutes.

Next Up

• Trinity returns to DeVos Gymnasium this weekend, as they host the defending CCAC champs and current league leaders, No. 19 Indiana South Bend. Tipoff with the Titans is set for 1:00 p.m.
