PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Trinity would hold their opponents to the second-lowest point total of the season on Wednesday night, but the Trolls would struggle on the other end, falling at home to St. Francis 57-43 inside DeVos Gymnasium.
Team Leaders
• Kirsten Kamholz matched her career high, leading the Trolls with 12 points in 18 minutes of action off the bench.
• Hannah Schuringa finished with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
• Desire Berrien and Sedona Anderson each pulled down a team-high six rebounds on the night.
How it Happened
• A three-pointer in the opening minutes from Brittony Davis gave the Trolls an early 5-3 lead, but the Saints would respond with nine unanswered points, building a 19-9 lead for the visitors by the end of the first quarter.
• The Trolls battled back, opening the second quarter on an 8-0 run, highlighted by Berrien's three-pointer at the 7:19 mark. St. Francis would go back up by eight, before a pair of buckets from Schuringa closed out the first half to cut the Saints' lead to 25-21 at the break.
• Kamholz would tie the game twice in the third quarter, hitting a three with 4:40 left in the period to even the score at 29-29. After a bucket at the other end of the court, Schuringa found Kamholz for another score on the Trolls' next possession to make it a 31-31 game. St. Francis would go on another 9-0 run however, and after Amena Alexander's layup at the buzzer the Saints would lead 40-33 at the end of three quarters.
• Schuringa's three-pointer with 8:28 to play to make it 44-36 would be as close as the Trolls would get in the fourth quarter, as St. Francis out-scored Trinity 17-10 over the final ten minutes.
