Trolls celebrate Senior Day with win over Cougars

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Trinity Men's Soccer celebrated Senior Day with a dominant victory in the season finale on Saturday afternoon, as the Trolls earned a 5-0 win over Saint Xavier at the Schaaf Athletics Complex.

After honoring the eleven seniors that make up the Class of 2024, the Trolls took control of the match early, with Georgi Spasov putting the home side on the scoreboard in the 14th minute with his second goal of the season. Senior Zane Johnson picked up the assist on the play for his first point of the season.

A little over twenty minutes later, Ivan Perez took a cross from Tiago Alfieri for the first of his two goals on the day to give the Trolls a 2-0 advantage in the 36th minute.

Coming out of the halftime break, Perez struck again, scoring his fifth goal of the year in the 54th minute.

Four Trolls earned their first points of the season in the final minutes of the match, beginning in the 79th minute when Joao Leonardo scored with an assist coming from Robert Turner. In the 87th, Juan Carlos put away his first career goal with Raul Perez on the assist.

With the win, the Trolls secure the No. 3 seed in next week's CCAC Tournament. Trinity will play host to Saint Xavier in the Quarterfinals, in a rematch of Saturday's match as well as last season's CCAC Tournament Quarterfinal, where the Trolls took a 3-0 win over the Cougars.

Trinity's postseason debut is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, with the game time to be announced later.
