PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Three Trolls finished in double figures, but Trinity was unable to keep pace with Viterbo, as the Trolls dropped the final game before the New Year, 83-47 to the V-Hawks in DeVos Gymnasium on Saturday.
Bibi Mercado led the way with 11 points, along with seven steals, while Desire Berrien and Destiny Goodwin each posted ten points. Anastasia Anane pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked four shots to go with six points on 3-of-4 shooting.
Trinity would take an early lead on Mercado's layup in the opening minutes, 4-3, and went up by as much as three when Kyla Smith scored at the 6:50 mark of the first quarter to put the Trolls ahead, 9-6.
Viterbo would rally, closing the period on a 14-0 run, and would hold the lead the rest of the way.
The Trolls will return after the holiday break, when they travel to Judson on Saturday, Jan. 4.
