KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Recording their program-record 17th victory on Wednesday night, Trinity Men's Soccer used a pair of early goals to cruise through to the NCCAA National semifinals with a 3-1 win over Campbellsville (Ky.).
Despite being out-shot by Campbellsville by a 9-4 margin in the first half, David Hernandez would give the Trolls an early 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, with his 16th goal of the year, assisted by Vini Sartorello. Diego Martin doubled Trinity's lead in the 30th minute, with assists from Hernandez and Ismael Aguero, as the Trolls took a 2-0 lead into end of the first half.
Rafael Torres would put the game away in the 55th minute, scoring his first goal as a Troll from a pass from Pablo Nielfa, for the 3-0 advantage.
With the win, Trinity advances to the NCCAA men's soccer national semifinals on Friday night, where they will match up with CCAC rivals Judson for the third time this season. Kickoff with the Eagles is set for 11:00 a.m. CT.
