PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Three pitchers combined to throw the eighth no-hitter in Trinity Softball history on Tuesday afternoon, as the Trolls cruised to a dominant doubleheader sweep of the Maranatha Baptist (Wisc.) Sabercats at the Schaaf Athletic Complex.
Game 1
Trinity 16, Maranatha Baptist 0 (5 innings)
WP: LaGrange (1-0) • LP: Searle (0-1)
• The Trolls exploded for eight runs right out of the gate, on eight hits and three errors in the bottom of the first.
• Six more runs in the second inning would push Trinity's lead to 14-0. LaGrange pushed the lead to 15 runs in the bottom of the 4th, with her first home run of the season.
• Myleigh Halmon and LaGrange combined to throw five innings with just three hits and two walks allowed, while striking out nine.
• Maddy McIntyre and Erianna Claudio would each go 4-for-4 at the plate, with a combined five RBI and four runs scored.
Game 2
Trinity 15, Maranatha Baptist 0 (5 innings)
WP: Fleischauer (1-0) • LP: McIntyre (0-1)
• Trinity used another big rally to build up a lead in the bottom of the second, collecting eight runs on five hits and five walks.
• The Trolls tacked on four more in the 3rd inning, and another three runs in the bottom of the 4th.
• Katie Lorscheider, Zoey Fleischauer, and Abbye Kuehner combined to throw five hit-less innings, striking out 11 and surrendering just one walk to record the program's eighth no-hitter. Fleischauer earns the win after pitching the middle three innings, with Lorscheider and Kuehner throwing a perfect 1st and 5th, respectively.
