Trolls earn four-game sweep over Judson

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Trinity Baseball secured their first series sweep of the CCAC season on Friday afternoon, battling through cold temperatures and snowfall to win both ends of a doubleheader with the Judson Eagles at the Schaaf Athletic Complex.

Game 1
Trinity 8, Judson 3
WP: Hadley (3-1) • LP: Popovich (2-5) • Sv: Munoz (4)
HR: Janik (2)

• The Trolls would break through in the top of the 3rd, as Darreon Mickell would lead off the inning and reach base on a hit by pitch, then later score on Preston Moore's RBI single. Another run-scoring single form Oliver Carmody later in the frame, followed by a passed ball that allowed Gunnar Bettenhausen to score gave Trinity a 3-0 lead.

• Judson would get a run back in the bottom of the 3rd, before Connor Janik's RBI double in the 5th inning pushed the lead back to 4-1.

• Trinity put the game away in the top of the 7th, scoring four runs on five hits. Janik would hit his second home run of the season, and Omar Wright would drive in two runs on a two-out single.

Chase Hadley picked up his third win of the year, throwing five innings with two runs allowed and five strikeouts. Ulysses Munoz earned a two-inning save, striking out one without a hit surrendered.

• Janik and Carmody each finished 3-for-4 in the win, with Moore going 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored.

Game 2
Trinity 3, Judson 0

• Singles from Benson Holleman and Janik would load the bases in the top of the 1st with nobody out, but the Trolls only scored one, when Holleman came home on a wild pitch.

• In the top of the 6th Trinity added to their lead, as Anthony Cappelletti drove in Moore on an RBI single, and Carmody later scored on an error for a 3-0 advantage.

Silas Noe threw two scoreless innings, setting the tone for Christopher Nielsen, who finished the game with just one hit allowed and nine strikeouts over seven innings of work.

• Janik went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, the lone extra-base hit of the game for the Trolls.
