Sartoris sets Trinity hit record as Trolls take on Bees, Warriors

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Senior shortstop Charlie Sartoris put her name in the record books on Wednesday, as the Trolls took the first game of a doubleheader with St. Ambrose, before having the second matchup suspended due to darkness at the Schaaf Athletic Complex. On Thursday, the Trolls took a trip outside of league play, falling in a doubleheader at Indiana Tech.

Trinity 6, St. Ambrose 2
WP: Halmon (6-7) • LP: Erickson (5-5)
HR: Ralfs (SAU), 3

• The Fighting Bees would strike first with a run in the top of the 1st, on a sacrifice fly. Trinity rallied in the bottom half of the inning, after leadoff singles from Sartoris and McIntyre set the table for a two-run triple from Myleigh Halmon.

• A solo shot in the 2nd inning from St. Ambrose would tie the game at 2-2. The Trolls would leave two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the 2nd, and have the bases loaded in the 5th, but were held scoreless over the next four innings.

• The Trolls finally broke through in the bottom of the 6th, taking the lead on Alex Hofman's RBI double. Run-scoring singles from Sartoris and McIntyre would extend the Trolls' lead, and Giulia Cianfriglia's two-out RBI double would put the home team ahead 6-2.

• Sartoris would finish 3-for-4 in the game, reaching 63 total base hits on the season and setting a new Trinity single-season record.

• Halmon earned her sixth win of the year, pitching all seven innings and striking out three.

Trinity 1, St. Ambrose 1

• St. Ambrose would score first again, with a leadoff single and walk in the top of the 2nd setting up an RBI double to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Katie Lorscheider would retire 12 batters in a row after the Bees scored, allowing the Trolls to rally and tie the game in the 5th inning. McIntyre would hit a triple down the left field line before scoring to tie the game on a wild pitch.

• The Trolls would put runners on second and third in the bottom of the 8th, but were unable to take the lead, with the game then being suspended due to darkness.

• Lorscheider finished with four strikeouts and just three hits allowed over eight innings of work.

• McIntyre finished 2-for-3 at the plate, with a triple, run and walk.

Indiana Tech 4, Trinity 2
WP: Bravo (15-4) • LP: Halmon (6-8)
HR: Cianfriglia (TCC), 3

• The Warriors would use back-to-back extra-base hits in the bottom of the first to take an early 2-0 lead in the opening game of Thursday's doubleheader.

• The Warriors extended their lead with a run scored on a Trinity error in the bottom of the 2nd, then another run in the 4th inning put the home team up by three, 4-1.
