Trolls outpace Crimson Pride in shootout victory

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill.   The Trinity Men's Soccer offense was on full display on Saturday afternoon, as the Trolls secured their fifth win in the first six games of the season with a 6-2 decision over the Indiana Columbus at the Schaaf Athletic Complex.

How it Happened

• Trinity stumbled out of the gate, as the Crimson Pride (2-1-1) forced Trinity goalkeeper Roberto Navarro to make a pair of saves on three shot attempts over the match's opening five minutes.

• In the 9th minute, the Trolls (5-1) turned the tide with David Hernandez scoring the first of his two goals on the day, assisted by Tiago Alfieri.

• IU Columbus found the equalizer three minutes later, but Guilherme Correia put Trinity back in front with his second goal of the season, coming in the 14th minute to put the Trolls ahead 2-1.

• Another Hernandez goal and an own goal from the Crimson Pride defense would give Trinity a 4-1 lead before another score for the visitors in the 37th minute cut the lead to 4-2 at the half.

• Correia scored his second of the day early in the second half, while Daniel Garcia added to the Trolls lead in the 60th minute to give his team a 6-2 lead.

Team Leaders

• Hernandez and Correia each scored a brace in the win, with Ivan Perez tallying three assists in the win.

• Garcia and Hernandez also recorded an assist apiece, along with Alfieri and Lucas Vilela.

• Navarro finished with four saves to record his second win of the year.
