JOLIET, Ill. – Chris Cross posted a career high 35 points, setting a new high mark for the Trolls this season, but Trinity's comeback attempt would fall short in the second half, as the Trolls fell on the road to the CCAC leaders St. Francis, 71-59 on Wednesday night.
The home team jumped out to an early lead, scoring the game's first 12 points in the opening three minutes. Trinity would close the gap later in the first half, as buckets from Tylan Harris and Cross fueled a 6-2 rally capped with a pair of Jacob Spaulding free throws that made it a five-point game, 24-19 with 3:46 before the break.
St. Francis would rally before the close of the half however, ending on a 14-4 run that included four three-pointers over the final 2:37 to give the Saints a 38-23 lead at the break.
The Trolls would battle back again in the second half, but were unable to get any closer than they did in the first as the Saints closed out the win.
Cross would finish 14-of-26 from the floor, while Harris collected 12 points as the second of two Trolls to post double figures. Harris went 4-for-8 while dealing out six assists.
Trinity will will close out the current two-game road swing on Saturday, when they face Indiana South Bend. Tipoff with the Titans is set for 2pm CT.
