SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Three Trolls would finish in double figures, but a tough cold spell in the first half would be enough for the home team, as Trinity came up short at Indiana South Bend on Saturday afternoon, 83-69.
Chris Cross would lead all scorers with 27 points, going 11-for-21 from the floor and 4-of-9 from three-point range. Tylan Harris posted 14 points with four three-pointers made, and Danny Staskunas tallied 12 points on a 4-for-9 performance from beyond the arc.
The Trolls took an early lead, going up 11-8 after a Harris three, and would later tie the game at 15-15 when Cross's jumper fell at the 12:51 mark. The Titans would then respond with an 18-6 run over the following five and a half minutes, building a 33-21 advantage. Indiana South Bend would close the first half on a 6-0 run to take a 45-31 lead at the half.
Trinity would play even with the Titans throughout the second half, 38-38, but were unable to make a run to get back within single digits as Indiana South Bend maintained their advantage the rest of the way.
The Trolls will return to DeVos Gymnasium on Wednesday, when they host Saint Xavier at 7:30 p.m.
