JOLIET, Ill. – Trinity would see two players in double figures on Wednesday night, but a quick start from the hosts would result in a 102-40 road loss to St. Francis.
Trinity got off to a slow start, scoring four points in the first quarter and going 1-for-10 from the floor as the Saints posted a 25-4 lead after ten minutes of play. St. Francis would hold the Trolls to another single-digit quarter in the second, and controlled the game the rest of the way.
Bibi Mercado led the way for the Trolls, collecting 14 points for her sixth double-digit scoring performance in the past seven games. Kyla Smith tallied 13 points including a 7-for-10 night from the free throw line.
Desire Berrien pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds, setting a new career high.
Trinity will look to bounce back on Saturday, when they continue the road trip with a visit to Indiana South Bend. Tipoff with the Titans is set for 12pm CT.
