PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Trolls would come out strong, shooting over 50 percent in the first quarter, but the offense was unable to keep pace throughout Wednesday night, falling at home to Saint Xavier, 94-42 inside DeVos Gymnasium.

Bibi Mercado led the way for the Trolls, scoring 14 points, while Desire Berrien picked up another double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Trinity would take an 11-5 lead after a pair of buckets from Berrien and Mercado, for their largest lead of the night. After another score from Berrien kept the Trolls in front, 15-12 with 4:16 left in the period, Saint Xavier would respond with a 13-0 run, and would lead 25-17 at the end of the first.

The Cougars would hold Trinity to single digits in the second quarter, and hold off the Trolls throughout the second half to secure the win.

The Trolls will look to bounce back when they head to Viterbo on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff with the V-Hawks is set for 1:00 p.m.
