Trolls hold on for road win at Holy Cross

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Trolls picked up a key road win on Wednesday night as the team hits the final stretch of the regular season, surviving a shootout with a 4-3 victory over Holy Cross.

Trinity took the lead early in the match, when Rafael Torres scored a 7th-minute goal, his third of the year, as Ismael Aguero picked up the assist. The host Saints would find the equalizer in the 30th minute, but Trinity would come back again before the end of the first half.

In the 35th minute, Aguero put away his fourth goal of the year to reclaim the lead for the Trolls. Trinity would take the 2-1 lead into the halftime break, despite Holy Cross out-shooting the Trolls by an 11-4 margin.

The Trolls extended their lead in the second half, with goals from Joao Leonardo in the 56th minute, and Ivan Perez's strike in the 64th.

Holy Cross rallied late, scoring two goals in a 63-second stretch to suddenly make it a one-goal game, but the Trolls were able to hang on to secure the three points.

Winners of four out of their last five, the Trolls return to the Schaaf Athletic Complex on Saturday, when they host Calumet. Kickoff on the Senior Day matchup with the Crimson Wave is set for 2:30 p.m.
