GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Trinity Cross Country closed out the regular season at the largest race of the year, competing at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge, hosted by Aquinas (Mich.) on Saturday morning.
Trinity's women's team would place 13th in the 23-team field in the 5k White race, while the men finished 26th out of 29 teams in the 8k event.
Freshman Maite Farin was the Trolls' top finisher for the second time this season, finishing with a season-low 20:09.5 to place 51st overall. Two more Trolls finished in the sub-21 bracket, with Ariadna Juarez finishing in 20:15 to place 58th, and Jordyn Fleener finishing 78th overall with a time of 20:45.
In the men's 8k race, Jacob Brouwer was the fastest Troll for the fourth time this year, placing 107th in the 278-man field, posting a time of 27:55.6 and besting his personal 8k record by nearly 30 seconds.
The Trolls now prepare for the postseason, beginning with the CCAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 8. Trinity will take on the rest of the conference at Aspen Ridge Golf Course, in Bourbonnais.
