Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Trolls battle, come up short at #1 Grace

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Trolls would hold their own against the No. 1 team in the country in the second half on Friday afternoon, matching their opponents point-for-point after the break, but a halftime deficit would be too much to overcome as Trinity fell on the road, 92-78 at Grace (Ind.).

Silas Spaulding would lead the Trolls in scoring for the first time this season and the second time in his career, finishing with 17 points off the bench. Two other Trolls would reach double figures, with Garrett Greene posting 14 points, and Danny Staskunas contributing 12.

Greene would open the scoring and give the Trolls their lone lead of the day with a game-opening three-pointer, but the Lancers would respond with a 16-2 run over the next six minutes, and Grace would stay in front the rest of the way.

Trinity would use an 8-0 run later in the first to close the gap, with Ognjen Petkovic's bucket and free throw at the 8:45 mark making it a one-point game, 22-21. Grace responded again, going ten of the next 12 points to go back up 32-23 with 5:15 left in the first half.

Trailing 44-30 to start the second half, the Trolls would match the Lancers the rest of the way, 48-48 with Staskunas scoring all of his 12 points after the break on four three-pointers.

The Trolls will now prepare for their trip to Arizona next week, where they will first match up with Benedictine-Mesa on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
