Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Trolls fall in straight sets to North Central

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Caden Figus recorded the team's first double-double of the young season, but Trinity Men's Volleyball would stumble at home on Tuesday night, falling in straight sets to North Central (Ill.) inside DeVos Gymnasium 25-18, 25-21, 25-18.

Figus collected 10 assists and 10 digs on the night, leading the Trolls in both categories. Tim Slattery also tallied ten assists, while Zach Supanich led the offense with eight kills.

After the visiting Cardinals led the first set wire-to-wire, the Trolls bounced back at the start of game two, opening on a 7-2 run, highlighted by a kill from Conner Dargan and a Brendan Rushton ace. The Cardinals would come back, scoring eight of the next ten points to claim a 10-9 advantage, and the score would remain tight until a block from C.J. Lafin and Dargan tied the set at 17-17. From there, North Central would retake the lead with a four-point run and stay in front the rest of the way to a 25-21 win.

Trinity again took a lead early in game three, and remained in front after a 4-1 rally capped by kills from Supanich and Rushton gave the Trolls a 12-9 edge. North Central responded again, taking six in a row to build a 17-12 lead and holding off the Trolls down the stretch.

Trinity will look to bounce back as they hit the road on Wednesday night, with a visit to former conference foes Roosevelt. Tipoff from Chicago is set for 7:00 p.m.
