GARY, Ind. – A quick start for the home team would see Trinity down early, as the Trolls stumbled on the road at Indiana Northwest, 94-39 on Saturday afternoon.
Amena Alexander would lead the Trolls with 11 points and eight rebounds, playing 34 minutes off the bench. Desire Berrien came a point shy of a double-double, pulling down 13 rebounds and scoring nine points. Bibi Mercado reached double figure as well, with 10 points to go along with a team-high three assists.
The host Redhawks would open the game with 12 unanswered points, as a three-pointer from Kyla Smith ended the drought at the 7:34 mark of the first quarter. The Trolls would cut the deficit to three after a pair of Alexander threes and another bucket from Smith made it 16-13 midway through the first.
Indiana Northwest would respond with 16 unanswered, closing the opening period with a 32-15 lead. Trinity's shot would go cold in the second quarter, as the home team extended their advantage to 47-21, and would control the game the rest of the way.
The Trolls are now set to return next week for the final two home games of the season, beginning with a Senior Night matchup against Calumet. Tipoff with the Crimson Wave is set for 5:00 p.m.
