Trolls pick up two wins to close out Florida trip

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Trolls wrapped up their trip to Florida on Friday, picking up a pair of victories on the final two days of the Space Coast Spring Games.

Trinity 4, Huntington (Ind.) 2
WP: Halmon (2-5) • LP: Haselby

The Troll struck early in the first game on Thursday, posting a 1st-inning run on the Foresters. Erianna Claudio would lead off with a single, steal second, then advance to third on Halie LaGrange's sacrifice before coming home on a wild pitch. Huntington would even the score in the top of the 3rd, but Kylie Simmons put Trinity back on top with a two-out RBI double in the bottom of the 4th.

Huntington tied the game again in the 7th inning, setting up the Trolls for a walk-off win. Anna Lisa Fluder led off the bottom of the 7th with a base hit to right field, before pinch runner Alana Harlow came on and advanced to third on a ground out and Peyton Lowden's single. Kamryn Koontz's pinch-hit double would close out the win for the Trolls, 3-2.

Eight different Trolls would record a base hit in the game, with Simmons and Koontz each scoring a double. Myleigh Halmon picked up the win, throwing all seven innings with one earned run and eight strikeouts.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) 5, Trinity 4
WP: Geary • LP: Lorscheider (1-3)

Trinity would take an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd with Claudio's sac fly, scoring Ava Valk who reached base with a leadoff single. The Eagles would come back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning, then build their lead with another run in the 3rd and two more in the 4th.

The Trolls got a run back in the top of the 6th, when Simmons singled and later scored before a triple play ended the rally. An RBI single from Fluder and a run-scoring fielder's choice from Alex Hofman would put two more runs on the board in the 7th inning, but the Trolls were unable to get the tying run across.

Fluder finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base to lead the Trolls, while Simmons went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Trinity 5, Cleary (Mich.) 3
WP: Halmon (3-5) • LP: Dargie

Both teams would be held off the scoreboard until the 4th inning, when back-to-back walks drawn by Lowden and Hofman set the table of Isabella Hull's two-run triple. Hull then scored on Harlow's sac fly to give Trinity a 3-0 advantage. Cleary would come back in the bottom of the 4th with two runs on one hit and an error.

In the top of the 5th the Trolls would get both runs back, starting with a leadoff walk for LaGrange and a single from Fluder. Lowden's single up the middle would drive in a run, and Harlow would do the same three batters later.

Cleary would push a run across in the bottom of the 7th, but leave two runners on base as the Trolls closed out the 5-3 win.

Fluder would go 2-for-4 at the plate, and Harlow finished 2-for-3 with two RBI. Halmon would pick up another complete game victory, working around two earned runs while striking out four.

Marian (Ind.) 3, Trinity 1
WP: Coan • LP: Lorscheider (1-4)

A three-run rally in the top of the 2nd would hold up for the Knights, as Trinity would see just two batters reach base over the first four innings. In the bottom of the 5th, the Trolls would get on the board with a leadoff single from Simmons and an RBI double from Caitlin Hernandez.

Trinity would be held to just five hits in the game, with the only runners in scoring position coming in the 5th-inning rally.
