CHICAGO, Ill. – Trinity Softball would struggle at the plate, as the Trolls stepped outside of CCAC play on Friday, falling in both games of a doubleheader at North Park (Ill.).
North Park 3, Trinity 1
WP: Hare • LP: Halmon (6-11)
Trinity would take the first lead of the day in the top of the 3rd, after Erianna Claudio singled and later came home on Myleigh Halmon's RBI single. Halmon would keep the Vikings off the scoreboard with just one hit allowed over the first three innings, but the home team would break out for a pair of runs in the bottom of the 4th, and an insurance run in the 5th as Trinity was held hitless over the final three frames.
Claudio would go 2-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases to lead the Trolls at the plate.
North Park 8, Trinity 0 (5 inn.)
WP: Baker • LP: Lorscheider (3-10)
Trinity would be limited to just two base hits in game two, as North Park jumped out to a 6-0 lead after a big 2nd-inning rally. The Vikings would add another run in the 3rd and 5th innings to end the game early on run rule.
Kamryn Koontz would finish 1-for-2 with a double, the team's only extra-base hit in the game.
The Trolls return to the Schaaf Athletic Complex on Wednesday, when they resume CCAC play with a doubleheader against Calumet. First pitch with the Crimson Wave is set for 2:00 p.m.
