Match Preview

• The 50th season of Trinity Women's Volleyball begins on Saturday, as the Trolls travel to compete in a pair of matches at Judson University. Trinity will take on Grand View (Iowa) and Avila (Mo.) in a doubleheader from the Linder Fitness Center.

• Saturday's matches will be the first for Head Coach Tom Welsh, who comes to Trinity after two seasons each at Joliet JC and Morton CC.

• The Trolls and Vikings will match up for the first time in over a decade, with Grand View winning 3-1 at home in 2014. The Trolls earned a sweep in their last win over Grand View, in 2012. Trinity won the last meeting with Avila, playing at a neutral site in 2017 for the four-set victory.

• Trinity returns their two All-CCAC honorees from last season, led by reigning CCAC Setter of the Year, Sharide Sykes. The senior averaged 7.26 assists per set last year, third-most in the league, while collecting 1.39 kills per set. Junior Makenzie Ritsema also returns after being named to the All-CCAC Second Team; the middle blocker was third in the CCAC, averaging 0.9 blocks per set and was second on the team with 2.17 points per set.

• Overall, the Trolls bring back their top seven point-scorers from last season, led by senior Sarah Neighbors; Neighbors collected 302.5 points on the season, with a team-high 252 kills (2.8 per set), 30 aces, and 36 blocks.

• Defensively, libero Jorieliss Caraballo is back as the team's top returner in digs, with 2.87 per set.

• Three junior transfers join the squad for 2025; Defensive specialist Rosalie Shaughnessy (Triton CC), middle hitter Zoe Klaus (Morton CC), and setter Ashley Pacheco (Governors State) will look to make an impact in their first season in Palos Heights.
