OSKALOOSA, Iowa — The Trolls would tie the match shortly after halftime, but No. 2–ranked William Penn (Iowa) would defeat Trinity Christian 2–1 on Monday afternoon.
The Statesmen struck first in the 18th minute, and would take the one-goal lead into the half. Just three minutes into the second half, Miguel Bellosta would score the equalizer off a pass from Vini Sartorello and Rafael Alonso, the first goal for Bellosta in a Trinity uniform.
The match would remain in a stalemate for next ten minutes, until William Penn would score the game-winner in the 58th minute.
William Penn outshot Trinity 20–5 with an 11–3 edge in shots on goal. Roberto Navarro made nine saves in goal for the Trolls, setting a new career high for the sophomore.
Trinity returns home to face Northwestern Ohio on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m.
