Trinity Christian Men's Basketball Honors Seniors; Defeats SXU Saturday; Set to Host CCAC Tournament Contest Wednesday

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. — The Trinity Christian College men's basketball team won its second straight game with a 91-68 victory over Saint Xavier University on Saturday (Feb. 21) and will carry momentum into the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The Trolls will host a quarterfinal matchup against Indiana University South Bend. Trinity Christian honored seniors Brandon Adorno, Tylan Harris, Garrett Greene and Chris Henthorn before the contest.

Greene led the Trolls with 36 points on 15-of-20 shooting, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range. Adorno added 18 points, Harris scored 14, and Aiden Cilladi flirted with a triple-double, posting 12 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.

Trinity Christian led 5-4 in the first two minutes. The Trolls went on a 10-0 run over the next two minutes to take a 15-4 advantage, including five points from Harris and Greene.

Saint Xavier responded with eight unanswered points to make it a one-possession contest. The Trolls answered with a layup from Greene and a 3-pointer by Adorno to push the lead to 20-12.

Moments later, the Cougars cut the deficit to 25-23 with under 10 minutes left in the half. Back-to-back layups by Brandt Martin and Adorno extended the lead to six.

Saint Xavier trimmed the margin to 33-30 with under five minutes remaining, but the Trolls closed the half on a 17-6 run to take a 50-36 lead into the break.

SXU opened the second half with a 3-pointer before Trinity Christian responded with a layup to extend its lead. The closest the Cougars came the rest of the way was 12 points with 14:42 to play.

Trinity Christian extended its lead to more than 20 points several times and ultimately secured the 91-68 victory.

Trinity Christian returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 24, hosting fifth-seeded Indiana South Bend in the CCAC Tournament quarterfinals at DeVos Gym. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
