PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. — The Trinity Christian College men's basketball team advanced to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals as the Trolls defeated fifth-seeded Indiana University South Bend 84-68 in the quarterfinals Wednesday (Feb. 25).
Garrett Greene led the way with 31 points. Wandy Ortiz scored 17 points off the bench, Brandon Adorno added 15 points, Tylan Harris had 11 points, and Aiden Cilladi pulled down 10 rebounds.
IU South Bend led 7-2 in the opening minutes. Trinity Christian responded with a 14-8 run over the next five minutes, including a 3-pointer by Harris and a basket from Munoz.
Moments later, the Titans grabbed a 23-22 lead with 6:56 to play in the first half. However, that would be the last time IU South Bend led. Trinity Christian answered with nine straight points over the next two minutes, including five from Greene, to take a 31-23 lead.
Greene carried momentum into the break after knocking down a basket with three seconds remaining in the first half. He opened the second half with a 3-pointer, extending the lead to double digits.
Trinity Christian held a double-digit advantage for most of the second half. The Titans cut the deficit to 57-50 with under nine minutes to play, but that was as close as they would get.
The Trolls extended their lead to as many as 16 points in the closing minutes and secured the 84-68 victory.
