PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. -- The Trinity Christian men's volleyball team battled in three sets against NCAA Division II opponent Roosevelt but was ultimately swept 3-0 Saturday (Feb. 21). The Trolls dropped a tight first set 25-23 before falling in the second and third.

SET 1: Roosevelt 25, Trinity Christian 23
Trinity Christian jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after a block from Sam Cain and a kill by C.J. Lafin. Roosevelt responded and took a 7-6 lead.

The Trolls scored back-to-back points to regain an 8-7 advantage, but that proved to be their final lead of the set. Roosevelt extended its lead to 22-14 late before TCC answered with four straight points to close the gap. After Roosevelt reached set point, Trinity rallied with three consecutive points to pull within one.

Roosevelt held off the Trolls to secure the 25-23 win.

SET 2: Roosevelt 25, Trinity Christian 14
The second set belonged to Roosevelt. Trinity Christian got as close as 3-2 following a kill from Lafin, but the Lakers quickly seized control.

Late in the set, a block from Juvantae Thompson and Coner Dargan attempted to spark momentum, but Roosevelt closed out the set 25-14.

SET 3: Roosevelt 25, Trinity Christian 17
Roosevelt again controlled the third set, building an early 5-3 lead. Thompson tried to ignite a rally for TCC, but the Lakers maintained their advantage.

Late in the set, consecutive kills from Thompson, Lafin and Cain cut the deficit to 17-14. However, Roosevelt responded with an 8-3 run to finish the set, winning 25-17 to complete the 3-0 sweep.
