PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. — The Trinity Christian men's basketball team extended its winning streak to three games Wednesday night (Feb. 4), defeating Viterbo 70-67 in overtime. Three Trolls scored in double figures, led by Garrett Greene, who posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Adorno added 19 points, while reigning CCAC Defensive Player of the Week Aiden Cilladi chipped in 17.
Viterbo controlled much of the first half, holding a 26-22 lead with 7:23 remaining. Trinity responded with a 10-0 run, capped by a Greene layup to give the Trolls a 32-26 advantage with four minutes to play. The V-Hawks answered with four straight points, but baskets from Adorno and Greene pushed the lead to 37-30 late in the half. Viterbo scored the final basket before the break, sending TCC into halftime with a 37-32 lead.
Adorno opened the second half with a three-pointer, but Viterbo answered with six straight points to cut the margin to two (40-38) with 16:46 remaining. Adorno knocked down another triple to restore a five-point lead.
Later, the V-Hawks trimmed the deficit to one at 54-52 with 6:35 to play, but Cilladi responded with a three-pointer to push the lead back to five. Viterbo forced overtime by sinking a pair of free throws with 25 seconds left in regulation.
In overtime, Trinity Christian came through at the free-throw line, including four clutch makes from Greene, to secure the 70-67 victory.
