PARAGOULD, Ark. — The Trinity Christian College baseball team opened its 2026 season with a series victory over host Williams Baptist on Friday (Feb. 6) and Saturday (Feb. 7). The Trolls and Eagles split Friday's doubleheader before Trinity Christian secured the series with a 6–2 win in Saturday's finale.
GAME 1: Williams Baptist 3, Trinity Christian 0
Both teams were locked in a scoreless battle through the first five innings. Trinity Christian starter Brendan Fleming was sharp, tossing four scoreless frames while allowing just two hits and striking out six.
Williams Baptist broke through in the bottom of the sixth with a three-run home run to take a 3–0 lead. The Eagles then retired the side in order in the top of the seventh to seal the victory.
GAME 2: Trinity Christian 8, Williams Baptist 5
Trinity Christian struck first in the top of the second inning when Taiki Kondo scored on a passed ball. Williams Baptist answered in the bottom half with a two-run home run to grab a 2–1 advantage.
After a scoreless third, the Trolls regained the lead in the fourth inning as Ty Chaney launched a two-run home run to put TCC ahead 3–2.
Trinity Christian maintained control from there, breaking the game open with a five-run seventh inning. Brodie Mayberry drove in Hector Mendoza with an RBI single, and Josh Pilgrim punctuated the rally with a grand slam to extend the lead to 8–2.
Williams Baptist mounted a late push with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Silas Noe closed the door by recording the final three outs to secure the win.
GAME 3: Trinity Christian 6, Williams Baptist 2
After two scoreless innings to open the game, Trinity Christian got on the board in the top of the third when Shane Jones drove in Zach Heese with a sacrifice fly.
The Trolls added another run in the fourth as Heese delivered an RBI single to score Caden Quigg, making it 2–0. Williams Baptist responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to even the score.
With the game tied at 2–2 through five innings, Trinity Christian pulled away with four unanswered runs over the final two frames. Benson Holleman highlighted the sixth inning with a two-run single to score Josh Pilgrim and Ty Chaney. In the seventh, Pilgrim added an RBI single to score Mendoza, and Holleman later scored Kondo on a fielder's choice.
Starter Matthew Toledo earned a no-decision after four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits while walking one and striking out six.
