Box Score The Trinity men's basketball team competed in their first home conference match of the season as the Saint Xavier Cougars came to DeVos Gymnasium tonight. The Trolls played tough against the Cougars, but at the end, Trinity lost to Saint Xavier 53-67.
The Cougars took control of the game from the start, but at various times throughout the match, Trinity was able to grab the lead. During both halves, Saint Xavier outshot Trinity, with the Trolls recording 25 and 28 points in both compared to the Cougars' 31 and 36-point halves.
The leading scorer tonight for Trinity was redshirt sophomore James Pennington. He finished the night with 12 points while also grabbing three assists and nine rebounds. Out of those nine rebounds, seven were defensive.
Freshman Erik Cohn also shined for the Trolls, registering 11 points while also grabbing two rebounds. Senior Josh Shannon registered the most steals and blocks for the team, recording four and three respectively.
Trinity will be back in action again tomorrow as they go into downtown Chicago to face Moody Bible Institute. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
