Box Score The Trinity men's basketball team played their first home match today as they faced the Evangel University Crusaders during Fall Fest weekend. The two teams kept the entire match close, but it was the Trolls who came out victorious, beating Evangel 88-85.
In the first half of the game, the Trolls were only able to out-score the Crusaders by three points, giving them the lead heading into the second half.
But in the second half, both teams put up 50 points apiece, which was more than either team scored in the first. But with the tied points scored, this resulted in a three-point win for the Trolls.
Leading the way for Trinity today was redshirt sophomore James Pennington. He scored 18 points during the match while also recording eight rebounds and eight assists.
Along with Pennington, two other Trolls finished with more than 15 points today, and that was junior Deantre DeYoung and senior Josh Shannon. The two both finished with 16 points today, with Shannon also grabbing 11 rebounds to give him his first double-double of the season.
The Trolls will be back in action again on Nov. 6 as they head to St. Ambrose University to take on the Fighting Bees.
