Box Score Following a three-game winning streak, the Trinity men's basketball team went to the Saint Xavier Cougars for a CCAC road match. Although they kept the score close for a great deal of the game, the Cougars pulled away at the end, causing the Trolls to lose the contest.
The Trolls fought against the Cougars, only being down by three with a score of 36-39 as they closed out the first half. But in the second, Saint Xavier came out strong, scoring 42 points compared to Trinity's 31, resulting a 67-81 loss for the Trolls.
Leading the offense was redshirt sophomore James Pennington, who ended the game with 19 points and six assists. He also shot 50% from the field. Senior Josh Shannon was able to contributed 14 points for Trinity along with seven rebounds and a team-high two blocks.
Freshmen Vince Overway and Erik Cohn also registered double-digit points, with both players earning 13. Overway went three for four on his three-point field goals while also grabbing seven rebounds.
Trinity now has an overall record of 8-15 and a conference record of 4-12. They will be back in the DeVos Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 8 as they host Calumet College of St. Joseph. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
