Box Score After securing their first win in five games, the Trinity women's basketball team was back on the court again to face the No. 8 Saint Xavier Cougars. The Trolls did not have a strong start, but were able to finish strong against the nationally-ranked team in a loss.
During the first half, the Trolls were only able to score 28 points compared to the Cougars' 64. However, that didn't stop them from fighting hard in the second half. They weren't able to make up much ground, but they scored 21 and 15 points respectively in the third and fourth quarters, which ultimately caused them to lose the contest 64-111.
Recording the most points for Trinity was junior Abby Coates, who had 14 as she went five for eight from the field. She was also able to record her 1,000th career point in this game. Freshmen Laila Rodriguez and Anne Peters also shot well, registering 11 and 10 points, respectively, with Rodriguez shooting four for seven from the field.
Junior Jasmine Elliott was also able to grab a team-high seven rebounds and two steals while junior Lexi Marin had a team-high three assists. Peters was also able to record the team's sole block.
The Trolls are now 5-20 overall and 3-14 in conference play. They will continue with another CCAC game on Saturday, Feb. 8 as they host Calumet College of St. Joseph in the DeVos Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
