Box Score CHICAGO – The crazy 2020-21 basketball season has caused games to regularly be postponed, rescheduled, and canceled so often that teams are taking to playing non-conference, conference games. That was the case on Saturday, Jan. 30 for the Trinity Christian College women's basketball team. Head Coach Theo Owens and the Trolls didn't pick just any opponent, they chose to take on No. 20 Saint Xavier University (Ill.) …and on their home court no less. Despite coming away with a 102-76 loss, Trinity was able to see several of their younger players step up and take charge.
The Cougars knew what to expect when Gabby Kreykes stepped on to the court in the Sullivan Center. They knew she was the leading scorer for Trinity and the CCAC, but they had even more insider information as Kreykes had played two seasons at SXU. So, it was no surprise that the Trolls would need to find another way to score. Kreykes' teammates proved they were up to the challenge, as four notched double digits in the scoring column.
Abby Coates tied her season-high to led Trinity offensively with 23 points, while Summer Cramer and Jasmine Elliott added 14 each. Christina Kelley added 13, a new season high. Under the basket, Jasmine Glover pulled in a team-leading 12 rebounds, six on each end of the court. Glover and Kelley each dished out four assists to lead the team, while Glover also added four steals.
