Trolls round out regular season with win over Roosevelt

CHICAGO – With a win over Roosevelt University (Ill.) on the final day of the regular season, the Trinity Christian College men's basketball team did something that hasn't happened in a decade – they finished with a winning record and advanced to the post season. James Pennington led the Troll offense with 29 points, propelling Trinity to a 78-67 win.

NEWS AND NOTES

  • It has been 10 years since the Trolls finished with a record above .500 and played in the post season.
  • With the win, the Trolls clinched an opportunity to compete in the NCCAA Regional Tournament if they don't advance to the NAIA National Tournament. The Regional will be held on March 12. The NCCAA National Tournament is March 17-18 at Grace College (Ind.).

WHAT'S NEXT

Trinity (9-8) will host Indiana University Northwest in the first round of the CCAC Tournament. All 15 teams in the conference will compete for the final automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament. The Trolls earned the No.6 seed, while the Red Hawks are the 11 seed. The two teams faced each other one time this season, way back on November 19, 2020. IUN came away with a 95-81 win. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
