Box Score Davenport, Iowa - After winning three of their first four games to start the year, Trinity Christian College men's basketball (9-11, 5-8 CCAC) couldn't score enough to beat Saint Ambrose (8-12, 7-8 CCAC). The Bees held the Trolls to just 37.9% from the field and fell 81-69. Saint Ambrose outrebounded the Trolls, 46-34
With only 5:55 to play, junior Vince Overway drilled a triple to get things withing single digits at 67-58. But it was St. Ambrose with a 7-0 run to put away the Trolls for good. Sophomore Braxton Barnhizer led the Trolls in scoring with 23 points. He also had eight rebounds.
Trinity Christian led 14-11 with 12:04 to go in the first half when Junior Erik Kohn took over. He went on an 8-0 run by himself to extend the lead to 21-11. St. Ambrose picked things up with a 15-2 run to end the half and take a 39-32 advantage.
St. Ambrose's Jake Conerty snagged 11 points and seven rebounds in the second half to help the Bees earn the win.
NOTES & NUMBERS:
- Cohn reached double-figures for the first time since Dec. 1. He also drilled two, three-pointers.
- Overway continues his stellar play. He scored 17 points and has posted double-figures in seven of his last eight games. He hit four three-pointers saturday is now 8-for-15 from deep in his last three games.
- Barnhizer scored 23 points and is averaging 15.6 points per game in his last five.
- The Trolls are now 3-2 since turning the page to 2022.
