Box Score Gary, Ind. - It didn't take long for the potent Indiana University Northwest (16-6, 10-5 CCAC) offense to get going. They opened the night on an 8-0 run and beat Trinity Christian College (9-13, 5-10 CCAC) by a final of 94-77 on Thursday evening. Sophomore Braxton Barnhizer provided the offense for the Trolls with a career-high 32 points. He also went 5-for-10 from beyond the arc.
Indiana Northwest grabbed their largest lead of the night at 46-24 on a layup with a minute left in the first half. Barnhizer had a layup to make it 46-26 IU Northwest heading into the locker room.
Out of halftime, Barnhizer stayed hot. He hit two three-pointers to cut the Indiana Northwest lead at 46-32. Later in the second half, it was another Barnhizer spurt. Back-to-back buckets for the Indiana native forced the Redhawks to call timeout. The Trolls trailed 58-47 with 14:43 remaining. The two teams continued to trade buckets before a 10-2 Indiana Northwest run put the game away.
NOTES & NUMBERS:
- Barnhizer went for his seventh double-double of the year. He had 32 points and 10 rebounds.
- Junior Vince Overway scored 10 points and went 2-for-5 from behind the three-point line. He's made two or more three-pointers in each of his last five games and is now shooting 37.2% from the three-point line this year.
- Trinity Christian College shot 38.5% (10-26) from behind the three-point line.
- The Trolls have lost three consecutive games.
UP NEXT: Trinity Christian College returns to DeVos Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 29 to take on Roosevelt University (15-7, 10-5 CCAC) at 3 p.m. The Lakers are currently riding a three-game winning streak. It will be the first meeting between the two teams.
