Cramer scores 36 points, Trolls fall on road 82-73

Box Score

Gary, Ind. - It's been a road heavy schedule for Trinity Christian College (11-8, 7-7 CCAC) in the month of January. Thursday night ended in a difficult road loss facing Indiana University Northwest (16-6, 10-5 CCAC) for the Trolls. Despite the 82-73 loss, senior guard Summer Cramer had a career night. She scored a career high 36 points and went 9-for-18 from behind the three-point line. She has now scored 58 points in her last two games.

The Trolls got off to a hot start. Cramer hit two three-pointers to open the game. Later in the first quarter, Senior Gabby Kreykes drilled a triple to give the Trolls a 17-11 lead with 4:44 to go in the period. The two teams went back-and-forth in the second period and it was a 44-41 lead for Trinity Christian College at the half.

But it was the third quarter that doomed the Trolls. It was a 13-0 run for the Redhawks to begin the third quarter. They won the period 26-10. It was Cramer scoring eight of those 10 points for Trinity.

In the fourth quarter, freshman Faith Davis knocked down a three-pointer to cap off an 8-2 run in the first two minutes. Indiana Northwest called timeout as the lead was trimmed to 69-62. Trinity Christian closed the gap to five points at 73-68 when Cramer sunk another three-pointer, but five points was as close as the Trolls could get.

NOTES & NUMBERS:

  • Cramer has scored in double-figures in five of her last six games. She has made a combined 14 three-pointers in her last two games.
