Box Score Gary, Ind. - It's been a road heavy schedule for Trinity Christian College (11-8, 7-7 CCAC) in the month of January. Thursday night ended in a difficult road loss facing Indiana University Northwest (16-6, 10-5 CCAC) for the Trolls. Despite the 82-73 loss, senior guard Summer Cramer had a career night. She scored a career high 36 points and went 9-for-18 from behind the three-point line. She has now scored 58 points in her last two games.
The Trolls got off to a hot start. Cramer hit two three-pointers to open the game. Later in the first quarter, Senior Gabby Kreykes drilled a triple to give the Trolls a 17-11 lead with 4:44 to go in the period. The two teams went back-and-forth in the second period and it was a 44-41 lead for Trinity Christian College at the half.
But it was the third quarter that doomed the Trolls. It was a 13-0 run for the Redhawks to begin the third quarter. They won the period 26-10. It was Cramer scoring eight of those 10 points for Trinity.
In the fourth quarter, freshman Faith Davis knocked down a three-pointer to cap off an 8-2 run in the first two minutes. Indiana Northwest called timeout as the lead was trimmed to 69-62. Trinity Christian closed the gap to five points at 73-68 when Cramer sunk another three-pointer, but five points was as close as the Trolls could get.
NOTES & NUMBERS:
- Cramer has scored in double-figures in five of her last six games. She has made a combined 14 three-pointers in her last two games.
- Davis returned to the court for the Trolls and provided nine points over 33 minutes. She went 3-for-4 from the three-point line.
- Freshman Hannah Schuringa continues to be a rebounding machine. She had 11 rebounds and is averaging 11 rebounds per game in her last four contests.
- The Trolls went 54% (13-24) from behind the three-point line. It's their best three-point percentage in a game this season.
UP NEXT: Trinity Christian College will return to DeVos Gymnasium for a 1 p.m. matchup with Roosevelt University (7-11, 6-8 CCAC). It will be the first meeting between the two teams this year.
