Box Score Palos Heights, Ill. - Trinity Christian College women's basketball (12-8, 7-7 CCAC) only played inside DeVos Gymnasium twice in January. Some home cooking is exactly what the Trolls needed Saturday afternoon. A 95-88 victory over Roosevelt University (7-12, 6-9 CCAC) got the Trolls back to the .500 mark in conference play. The win also brought the Trolls home record to 8-3 this season.
It was another legendary performance from senior Gabby Kreykes. She led all scorers with 36 points. She also had 12 rebounds, three assists and five blocks. Roosevelt tied the score at 81 when Gabrielle Beggs was fouled with one second remaining. She made both free throws and we went to an extra period. Freshman Faith Davis hit a critical three to open up the scoring in overtime.
Roosevelt would take an 87-86 lead with 2:10 to play in overtime. The Trolls went on a 9-1 run to end the game as Davis hit another triple and fellow freshman Hannah Schuringa got a breakway layup. Kreykes hit two free throws to end the night and secure the win for the Trolls.
NOTES & NUMBERS:
- Kreykes reached 30+ points for the fifth time this season. She also added a season high five blocks.
- Schuringa delivered another terrific game. She had 16 points and snagged 11 rebounds. She also added five assists.
- The three-point shot of Faith Davis was key to the Trolls win. She scored 14 points and hit four three-pointers.
- Trinity absolutely dominated the glass. The Trolls outrebounded Roosevelt, 61-44.
UP NEXT: The Trolls will prepare for a week that includes three games. On Monday, Jan. 31, they will hit the road to take on Indiana University South Bend. Tip off from South Bend is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CST.
