Box Score PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – In her Trinity debut, Katarina Savic led her team with 19 points, as the Trolls opened up the 2022-23 campaign with a 72-65 victory over Cardinal Stritch, inside DeVos Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
Savic led all scorers, as all five starters for the Trolls (1-0, 1-0 CCAC) finished in double figures. Faith Davis tallied 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting, and Laila McNeal posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards in the win. Sofia Radice and Hannah Schuringa finished with 12 points apiece.
The visitors would hold a 34-28 advantage at the half, taking their largest lead of the night by the 7:40 mark of the second quarter, 26-19. A third-quarter rally put the Trolls back on top, opening the second half on a 10-1 run as Davis' three-pointer at the 7:10 mark put Trinity in front, 38-36.
Trinity held the lead throughout the rest of the third quarter, led by eight points from Davis in the period, and would hold off the Wolves (0-2, 0-1 CCAC) in the fourth to secure the win.
The Trolls are back in action with another early-season conference test, when they welcome Calumet to DeVos this Saturday, November 5. Tipoff with the Crimson Wave is set for 4:30 p.m.
