PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Behind a 28-point performance from John Cison, and 22 from Michael Wright, Jr., Trinity Men's Basketball opened the new season with a 78-70 home victory over Cardinal Stritch, in CCAC play on Wednesday night.

Cison shot 10-of-17 from the floor, and went 7-for-8 from the free throw line to lead all scorers on the night, while Wright hit two of the team's four three-pointers, and pulled down four rebounds in the win. Troy Glover would come off the bench for four points and a game-high 15 rebounds for the Trolls (1-0, 1-0 CCAC).

Trinity would lead start-to-finish, jumping out to an 11-3 lead in the first four and a half minutes. Wright's three-pointer at the 13:15 mark would give the Trolls their largest lead of the night, 22-9, and the team would go into the locker rooms at the halftime break in front, 39-32.

The Wolves (0-2, 0-1 CCAC) responded in the second half, going on a 12-2 run spanning four minutes and cutting the Trinity lead down to a single point, 45-44 with 14:34 to play. Less than a minute later a layup from Cison while drawing the foul and completing the three-point play gave the Trolls the momentum again, and Trinity would pull away down the stretch to close out the win.

Trinity will now step outside of league play for their next matchup, when they host Moody Bible (Ill.) on Friday, November 4. Tipoff with the Archers from DeVos Gymnasium is set for 8:00 p.m.
