Trolls shut down Trinity International for road win

DEERFIELD, Ill. – Trinity put in a strong defensive effort on Wednesday night, holding their opponents to under 50 points and forcing 25 turnovers, as the Trolls secured their third conference win with a 72-48 victory at Trinity International.

Three Trolls finished in double figures, led by Laila McNeal's 18 points. Katarina Savic posted 15 points, while Destiny Goodwin came off the bench to contribute 13 points in the win.

The Trolls (3-0, 3-0 CCAC) held Trinity International to just 32% shooting on the night, including a 1-for-15 performance from three-point range. Trinity out-scored the Trojans (1-3, 0-1 CCAC) 28-8 on points scored off turnovers, with Savic and Hannah Schuringa each picked up a team-high three steals.

Opening up a 10-2 lead in the game's opening minutes, Trinity would lead start to finish, as Savic and McNeal each scored six points in the first period. The Trolls pulled away in the second, holding Trinity International to nine points in the quarter, while McNeal went off for 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, finishing with 16 in the first half.

With the win, Trinity starts the CCAC season with a 3-0 record for the second consecutive year. The Trolls step out of conference play this weekend, when they head west to face Dordt (Iowa) on Friday, November 11. Tipoff from Orange City, Iowa in first game of the Northwestern College Classic, is set for 1:00 p.m.
