Box Score DEERFIELD, Ill. – John Cison finished with 38 points on Wednesday night, but Trinity struggled to keep pace with the host Trojans, falling on the road to Trinity International, 99-88 for their first loss of the season.
The sophomore's point total is the highest for any Troll in two years; Cison finished the night going 13-for-24 from the floor, and 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Three players in all finished in double figures for Trinity (3-1, 1-1 CCAC), as Brady Loerop scored 14 points, and Saeer Miller came off the bench for 13. Troy Glover nearly picked up a double-double, with 10 rebounds and six points.
Trinity International (3-1, 1-0 CCAC) opened with the game's first three buckets and an early 6-0 lead, and would remain in front the rest of the way. Glover's dunk, followed by a basket from Cison at the 11:00 mark of the first half closed the gap to 16-13, but that would be as close as the Trolls would get. The home team responded with back-to-back three-pointers as part of a 14-0 run over the next four minutes.
Trailing 49-32 at the half, the Trolls bounced back after the break, trimming the deficit until a three from Loerop made it a single-digit game, 94-85, but with only seconds remaining on the clock.
The Trolls will look to bounce back on Saturday, November 12, when they travel to Calumet to take on the Crimson Wave. Tipoff from Whiting is set for 3:00 p.m.
